President Tatar spoke at the opening of the festival in London

President Ersin Tatar is continuing with his contacts in London.

Over the weekend he attended the 7th Turkish Cypriot Cultural Festival organized by the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations.

Speaking at the opening of the festival, Tatar pointed to the importance of direct flights from the UK to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and emphasized that embargoes are unacceptable.

President Ersin Tatar together with his wife Sibel Tatar attended the 7th Turkish Cypriot Culture Festival organized by the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations in London.

At the opening of the festival, Kenan Nafi, President of the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations in the UK, Duncan Smith, a former member of the UK Parliament, TRNC London Representative Çimen Keskin and Osman Koray Ertaş, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in London all delivered speeches.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu in his speech at the event emphasized the importance of informing the future generations in the UK of the and stated that they will continue to support these efforts.

Ataoğlu said that despite the embargoes, they are working for the development of the country and for citizens living abroad not to be separated from their land, culture and language.

Explaining the steps taken and efforts carried out to facilitate transportation to the country, Ataoğlu said that they will continue to work for the development of the country and to break the embargoes.

President Ersin Tatar, in his speech at the festival stated that the Turkish Cypriots have developed in every field with the support and protection of Türkiye.

He emphasized that the state binds the Turkish Cypriot people together.

Also touching upon the issue of direct flights from the UK to the TRNC, Tatar said that direct flights are important not only for the Turkish Cypriot people but also for the British expats living in the TRNC.

Talking about the injustices done to the Turkish Cypriot people, Tatar stated that an end should be put to the unjust embargoes adding that the Cyprus problem should be revisited.

He wished success to the candidates for the elections and emphasized the importance of electing those who are the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people in the parliament.

Following the speeches, a video prepared by the TRNC Presidency was screened, which included the national struggle period of the Turkish Cypriot people, the negotiation processes and the recent developments following the two-state solution policy.
