President Tatar welcomes Turkish Minister Kacır

President Ersin Tatar received Türkiye’s Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, during his visit to the island for TEKNOFEST KKTC.

In a statement released by the Presidency, President Tatar expressed his satisfaction with the visit and described TEKNOFEST as a historically significant event for the TRNC.

He emphasized that the festival not only contributes greatly to the country’s visibility and promotion but also strengthens the spirit of innovation among the youth.

He extended heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to making the event possible.

President Tatar highlighted the undeniable support provided by Türkiye’s Ministry of Industry and Technology, and acknowledged the success of various Turkish projects, particularly in national defense.

He noted that this strength enables the Turkish Cypriot people to confidently protect their national sovereignty in Cyprus.

Tatar underscored the unshakable bonds between Türkiye and the TRNC and said continued cooperation between the two nations would bring significant benefits to the Turkish Cypriot community.

In his remarks, Turkish Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır thanked President Tatar for hosting TEKNOFEST in the TRNC.

He stated that the new governmental campus symbolizes the TRNC’s struggle for full independence and the lifting of embargoes, and emphasized that Türkiye will always stand by the Turkish Cypriot people.

Describing the Cyprus issue as a national cause embraced by 85 million people in Türkiye, Kacır said organizing the 8th TEKNOFEST in the TRNC is a source of pride for the Turkish nation.

He expressed hope that the event would further spark interest in technology among young Turkish Cypriots.

Kacır also voiced his belief that the TRNC will accelerate its transformation into an “information island” and reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to overcoming the unfair embargoes imposed on the TRNC.

He reiterated the symbolic importance of holding TEKNOFEST on what he called “brotherly soil,” noting that the excitement generated by the festival is vital for the TRNC’s future.

Kacır attributed much of Türkiye’s success in the defense industry to the aftermath of the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation.

He explained that the embargoes imposed on Türkiye following the operation became a catalyst for the country’s technological development.

Stressing the importance of a two-state solution, Kacır expressed confidence in the TRNC’s continued growth and development, pledging Türkiye’s full support for this process.

“We will never let go of our brothers’ hands,” Kacır concluded, affirming that the recognition of the TRNC and the securing of its rights remain among Türkiye’s top priorities.
