The renewal of the wooden pier at Girne’s historic harbour will commence at the end of November, with the contracted company set to complete the project within five months.
In a statement following the signing of the contract between the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment and the winning bidder, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu emphasized the importance of this project for tourism.
He stated that this initiative is a step forward in enhancing Girne Harbour while preserving its historical character, thereby boosting its tourism appeal.
Ataoğlu noted that the renovation work is set to start at the end of November and conclude by the end of April, with the wooden pier’s renewal to be completed within five months.
He also mentioned that the new wooden dock would be wider than the previous one and would include tables for yacht tours, thus optimizing the use of the harbour space.
Ataoğlu assured that they will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to further beautify the old Girne Harbour.brt
