Siber’s ‘The Club’ meets readers

Siber’s new book ‘The Club’ was signed and promoted at an event last night.
The newly published book “Club” by Dr. Sibel Siber, one of the former Speakers of the Assembly and the first female Prime Minister of the TRNC, was introduced yesterday evening at an event.
The promotion and signing event for the book Kulüp (Club) Kıbrıs’ta Jön Türk Hareketi (Young Turk Movement in Cyprus) Kardeş Ocağı (Brotherhood Club) the third book written by Siber, was held at ‘Avlu’ in the inner city of Nicosia.


The promotion event for the book, which discusses the place and importance of the Brotherhood Club in social, cultural, and political life from the British Colonial years onwards, was attended by President Ersin Tatar and his wife Sibel Tatar, Speaker of the Assembly Zorlu Töre, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, some MPs, and many others.


In her speech at the book launch, Sibel Siber stated that the book was the result of three years of effort and expressed that her sense of belonging to society and the unwritten stories of the past encouraged her to write.
Siber pointed out that during the British colonial period in Cyprus, clubs constituted the senate of society, saying, “These places were the center of culture and politics. The Brotherhood Club was once the pulse of society.”
