A new political party is taking its place on the political stage.
Politician Serdar Denktaş, who had previously announced preparations for a new party, released a written statement revealing that the party’s name will be Social Justice and Struggle Party (“Toplumsal Adalet ve Mücadele Partisi) and that its logo will be an olive tree.
In a written statement through his press office, Serdar Denktaş noted that, as a necessity due to the current conditions of the country, they were approaching the final stages of establishing the new political party.
Stating that the party’s logo was chosen as the olive tree, he explained that the logo represented the values the party carries and symbolized an understanding that takes root in its land and bears fruit for future generations.
Denktaş added that the party’s colours were determined as “Ecevit blue” and black.
Referring to the significance of Ecevit blue for the Turkish Cypriot people, he said, “This colour aims to occupy a central place in our people’s memory as a symbol of hope, renewal, and social justice.”
Denktaş noted that black symbolized leadership, nobility, and rebellion against current conditions.
He announced the party’s name as Social Justice and Struggle Party (Toplumsal Adalet ve Mücadele Partisi) with the short form “TAM,” which reflects concepts such as completeness, wholeness, and the right timing.
Denktaş also added that the party’s staff, bylaws, manifesto, vision, and projects will be announced soon. brt
