Tatar held a live online meeting with the families of the Champion Angels

President Ersin Tatar held a live online meeting with the families of the Champion Angels, who are in Adıyaman for the Isias Hotel case.

Beginning his speech by once again offering his condolences to the families, the President stressed that the Isias case was a common cause for the Turkish Cypriot people, and his greatest hope was that justice will be served swiftly.

“I believe the Champion Angels are watching over us. We are fighting this battle together, and I reaffirm our belief that justice will prevail. Our shared struggle will continue until the end. We are also continuing our efforts to keep the memory of the Champion Angels alive” Tatar said.

Stressing that neither he nor anyone else would forget the Champion Angels, he noted that February 6 will remain a dark stain in the histories of both Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

“The pain you feel is the pain of all of us,” President Tatar stated, adding that the unity and solidarity shown for the Champion Angels held a significant place in the history of the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle.

He also expressed his belief that the necessary steps would be taken to ensure those responsible are tried for potential intent.

The President of the Champion Angels’ Survival Association, Ruşen Yücesoylu Karakaya, thanked President Ersin Tatar for his support.

Karakaya noted that the expert report for this hearing was not completed in time, but that the coming three to four months would be particularly challenging.

“We must witness the day justice is served, or our children will never forgive us. These murderers will not see the light of day, and the public officials involved will receive the harshest punishment,” Karakaya said.

She also added that upon returning to the TRNC, they would meet with President Tatar again to update him on the developments.BRT
