
President Ersin Tatar met today with Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Cyprus.
The meeting, the second held in days took place at the new Presidential complex.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting which lasted for over an hour, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar said that she had held a very good meeting with President Ersin Tatar.
“We are continuing our efforts to hold a productive meeting in July and achieve tangible results. I’m pleased and satisfied with our progress,” she said.
Highlighting her engagements over the past week, Holguin stated, “I held excellent meetings with the various bicommunal committees. Yesterday, I had a very fruitful discussion with the Youth Committee. I’m impressed with their work. They are clearly on the right path—towards the future. The members are happy to work together, and I believe this is one of the key outcomes of the Geneva process.”
Holguin also met with the bicommunal Culture and environment committees, noting that work is ongoing regarding a solar farm initiative. “I hope we will achieve good results,” she said.
“I will continue meeting people and also plan to hold discussions with the Chambers of Commerce. I will persist in my efforts to build bridges between the two communities,” she concluded.
Holguin is set to meet with the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodulides tomorrow.
The UN envoy who arrived in Cyprus over the weekend, had met with President Tatar on Monday.
Following her meetings with the two leaders, she held talks yesterday with their respective representatives, Güneş Onar and Menelaos Menelau.
