President Ersin Tatar has said that North Cyprus would further develop with proper investments.
Tatar on Thursday recieved a delegation from the Istanbul Industrialists and Investors Businessmen Association which is in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) for a series of contacts.
Welcoming the delegation, President Ersin Tatar emphasized the significance of strengthening and enhancing the commercial and economic ties between the Republic of Türkiye and TRNC.
Highlighting the increase in the number of passengers from Türkiye in the last 6 months due to flights from various areas of Türkiye and the opening of the new Ercan terminal, Tatar said that collaboration had increased in the global arena.
Tatar noted the advancements in certain sectors through software industry and R&D activities, mentioning the return of Turkish Cypriots who had emmigrated to other countries in the past, indicating the development of activities in the TRNC and the emergence of opportunities.
Emphasizing the importance of investments in the TRNC and the value of sharing experiences with investments from Türkiye, Tatar expressed his pleasure in hosting the delegation of the Istanbul Industrialists and Investors Businessmen’s Association (ISIYAD).
Touching upon the Cyprus issue, President Tatar stated that the Turkish Cypriot side’s new policy in Cyprus was based on a two-state solution, which he added was fully supported by Ankara and was gaining more acceptance by the day.
He reiterated that talks on a settlement could only begin as and when the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriots was accepted.
“If there is to be an agreement, the TRNC will be a part of it,” Tatar stressed.
Cuma İçten, the Chairman of the High Advisory Board of the Istanbul Industrialists and Investors Businessmen’s Association and former member of the Justice and Development (AK) Party from Diyarbakır, for his part briefed the president about the association’s activities, expressing their goal to invest in the areas needed in the TRNC.
Also speaking, Cemal Çoban, the president of the association, shared information about the association’s activities and projects, providing evaluations on potential investments in the TRNC.
Meanwhile, the delegation was also recieved by Speaker of the TRNC Parliament Zorlu Töre on Wednesday.
