The 51st Anniversary of the Peace and Freedom Day Celebrated with Pride

Meaningful Message from the Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel Municipality

The 51st anniversary of the 20 July 1974 Peace Operation, which laid the foundations of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, was commemorated with ceremonies throughout the country, including the Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel region. The Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel Municipality marked the occasion with a heartfelt message shared on its official social media account.

The ceremony held at the Landing Beach began with a 21-gun salute, followed by a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem. Wreaths were laid at sea, and a flag handover ceremony took place. The event reflected a deep sense of national unity and solidarity.

Later, participants visited the Karaoğlanoğlu Martyrs’ Cemetery, where carnations were placed on the graves of the fallen heroes. The ceremony served as a solemn tribute to those who gave their lives for independence.

In its statement, the Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel Municipality said:
“Happy 51st Anniversary of the 20 July Peace and Freedom Day. We commemorate our heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for independence with gratitude and respect. May their souls rest in peace.”
