The “Waste Star” Project is Being Implemented in Karşıyaka!

As part of the Civil Growth Project funded by the European Union, the “Waste Star” project, prepared by the Karşıyaka Culture and Art Association, is being implemented in collaboration with the Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel (LAÇ) Municipality. The project aims to create a sustainable environment by promoting the separation of waste at its source and raising awareness about recycling.

The project will be implemented as a pilot in 67 households in the village of Karşıyaka, where household waste will be separated into paper, plastic, and metal. The main objective of the project is to reduce the amount of household waste, contribute recycling products to the economy, and encourage reuse.

In the first phase of the project, recycling training will be provided to the 67 households. Afterwards, the separated waste will be transported to the sorting center, funded by the LAÇ Municipality, where weighing procedures will be carried out. After a three-month data collection period, a comprehensive report specific to the region will be prepared. Based on this report, the project will be expanded to the entire region of the LAÇ Municipality.

The Karşıyaka Culture and Art Association, which has previously implemented a successful project on recycling glass bottles, and the facility established in collaboration with the LAÇ Municipality is considered a model initiative in this field. The “Waste Star” project aims to both increase environmental awareness and contribute to the economy by recycling waste.

The project is regarded as an important step for a sustainable future, and it is expected that the local community will become more aware of recycling.
