The Henley Passport Index has released its annual ranking of the world’s most powerful passports, with Cyprus dropping two positions to 14th place.
Singapore has claimed the top spot in the 2025 Henley Passport Index, with its citizens enjoying visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations worldwide.
Japan secured second place with visa-free access to 193 destinations, while France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland and South Korea shared third position with access to 192 destinations.
Cyprus dropped two places to 14th position, with its passport holders able to visit 179 countries without a visa and requiring visas for 47 destinations.
Seven EU countries – Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden – ranked fourth with visa-free access to 191 destinations. Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland and the United Kingdom followed in fifth place with 190 destinations.
At the bottom of the rankings, Afghanistan’s passport remained the world’s weakest in 106th place, offering visa-free access to just 26 destinations, down two from last year. Syria ranked 105th with access to 27 destinations, while Iraq placed 104th with 31 destinations.
The Henley Passport Index, which evaluates passport strength based on the number of destinations holders can access without a prior visa, is updated regularly throughout the year. (incyprus)
