Three people were hospitalized after a fire broke out in an apartment building in Yeniboğaziçi (Agios Sergios) on Tuesday evening.
The fire occurred in an apartment on İstiklal Street and is believed to have been caused by an electric blanket that was left switched on, igniting a mattress. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and successfully brought the blaze under control. Cooling operations are continuing as a precaution.
Three residents of the building were affected by smoke inhalation and were transported to Gazimağusa ( Famagusta) State Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the fire.
