
Ceremonies and events are being held to mark the 49th anniversary of the Security Forces Command (GKK), the 67th anniversary of the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT), and the 454th anniversary of the conquest of Cyprus.
According to a statement by the Security Forces Command, a 16-kilometer resistance run will start at 6am on Friday from the Security Forces Headquarters at Boğazköy and will end in front of the Cyprus TMT Veterans Association.
Awards for the top athletes will be presented at the TMT Veterans Association at 10:15am.
As part of the celebrations, wreath-laying ceremonies will be held at the Atatürk monuments in capital Lefkoşa at 9:30am and all district centers, at the Lefkoşa Martyrs’ Monument at 10am, and at the Republic Park Monument at 12pm.
A reception will be held at 8pm in the garden of the GKK Headquarters to mark the anniversary.
All cemeteries of martyrs across the TRNC will remain open to the public until August 1.
