‘TRNC IT Days’ event held

The ‘TRNC IT Days’ event, organized in collaboration with the Information Technologies and Communication Authority and the Turkish Informatics Association, was hosted by the European University of Lefke.

The two-day event featured discussions on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, blockchain entrepreneurship, and cybersecurity, among other key topics.

Experts and academics from Türkiye shared their knowledge and experiences, contributing to the TRNC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its digital future.

In his opening remarks, President Ersin Tatar emphasized the importance of legal regulations and incentives to support young people in the field of technology.

He highlighted the need to equip the TRNC with modern and efficient technological infrastructure, starting with vocational schools.

President Tatar drew attention to Türkiye’s achievements in communication and national defence industries, calling them a source of inspiration and hope for Turkish Cypriots.

He also emphasized the significance of TEKNOFEST, set to take place in May, as a valuable platform for young people, scientific research, and the promotion of the TRNC.

Tatar underscored the importance of keeping pace with rapid advancements in all fields and ensuring that young people secure their place in the evolving global landscape.

He also pointed to the potential for collaboration between Türkiye and the Turkic world in technology, urging a shared vision, strategy, and the utilization of collective resources.

Tatar further reiterated the importance of legal reforms and incentives to empower young people and enhance the TRNC’s technological capabilities, starting with vocational schools.

Deniz Tiryakioğlu, the Coordinator of Turkish Informatics Association Days, stated that the goal of the event is to explore how technology can make the world more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Meanwhile, Turkish Informatics Association President Rahmi Aktepe provided insights into the association’s activities, noting that efforts to establish Cyprus as an “IT hub” are ongoing.

Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Ademgil, Vice-Rector of the European University of Lefke, shared an analysis of developments in technology and digitalization, stressing that investments in these areas could yield rapid returns, particularly in a country where tourism and education are at the forefront.

Kadri Bürüncük, President of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, underlined that digital transformation is now an indispensable global necessity and stressed the importance of preparing young people for this new era.

The event, held at the Faculty of Law Conference Hall, featured discussions on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, future professions, cloud computing, entrepreneurship, and angel investment, all of which are shaping the world of tomorrow.
