TRNC minister highlights international recognition at social policies meeting

The Minister of Labour and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, emphasized the significance of the Social Policies Ministers Meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (OIC) for enhancing the international recognition of the TRNC.

The event, held in Istanbul, marked the first such meeting of its kind.

In an exclusive statement to the Anadolu News Agency, Minister Gardiyanoğlu elaborated on the TRNC’s participation in the meeting as an observer state.

He expressed optimism that these gatherings would facilitate the TRNC’s full membership in the Organization of Turkic States, underscoring the importance of integration in social policies.

“With Türkiye’s support, the TRNC is gaining visibility on the international stage,” Gardiyanoğlu stated.

“Meetings like these significantly boost our international recognition.”

Highlighting a major development, Gardiyanoğlu noted the establishment of a Friendship Group by the Azerbaijan Parliament with the TRNC Parliament.

“Such initiatives are a significant breakthrough,” he remarked.

“I am confident that similar developments will occur in other Turkic states, progressing from parliamentary to ministerial levels, eventually leading to formal recognition.”

Gardiyanoğlu also addressed ongoing efforts in the social security sector, revealing plans to build two new nursing homes and two rehabilitation centers this year, with a total of six new nursing homes scheduled for construction during his tenure.

“In the past five years, we have created employment opportunities for 500 individuals with disabilities and initiated a significant project aimed at enhancing their participation in social life,” Gardiyanoğlu explained.

He also stressed the importance placed on women’s issues within the framework of social state principles.

The meeting in Istanbul represents a critical step for the TRNC in its quest for broader international acknowledgment and collaboration among Turkic states, highlighting both social policy advancements and diplomatic strides.brt
