Turkish Deputy FM calls for recognition of TCs’ rights

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister and President of the European Union Affairs, Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay, has called on the international community to reaffirm the inherent rights of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Speaking via video link at the opening of the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister and President of the European Union Affairs Mehmet Kemal Bozay stressed the importance of recognizing Turkish Cypriots’ fundamental entitlements.

“We call on the international community to reaffirm the inherent rights of the Turkish Cypriot people,” Bozay stated.

Recalling that Turkish Cypriots were deprived of their natural rights—such as sovereign equality and equal international status—through force in 1963, he condemned the ongoing systematic violations against them.

He further urged an end to the inhumane embargoes and unjust isolations imposed on Turkish Cypriots.
