Turkish Minister meeting with state and government officials in the TRNC
The Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan is in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for a series of official contacts.
During the two-day visit, Işıkhan and his accompanying delegation will visit various state and government officials.
The Turkish Minister embarked on his contacts this morning by first visiting the Acting President and Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre.
Welcoming the Turkish minister, Töre emphasized the strength and institutional structure of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Highlighting the ongoing cooperation with Türkiye, the Acting President said, “The TRNC is a state with established institutions, many of which are affiliated with the Ministry of Labour. Our work continues in unity with our motherland, Türkiye. We are one people with no separations. Geographical distinctions are misleading. We also maintain good relations with Azerbaijan. We continue on this path together,” Töre said.
Also speaking, the Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan drew attention to the unique relationship and bond that existed between the two countries.
He affirmed that Ankara’s foreign policy respects and protects the rights and laws of Turkish Cypriots.
Expressing Türkiye’s support for the two-state solution model, Işıkhan emphasized the need for the recognition of sovereign equality and international status for Northern Cyprus.
Following his meeting with Töre, the Turkish Minister visited the tombs of the late Turkish Cypriot leader Dr Fazıl Küçük and Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş paying his respects.
Minister Işıkhan also met with his counterpart, Minister of Labour and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
Speaking during his meeting with Işıkhan, Labour Minister Gardiyanoğlu praised the significant contributions made by his Turkish counterpart in the TRNC.
“Minister Vedat Işıkhan has provided very important contributions to the Ministry of Labour in the TRNC. His support has been invaluable in enhancing our capabilities and advancing our initiatives,” he said.
For his part, Işıkhan reiterated Ankara’s support to the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot people.
He pointed out that collaboration and joint projects ongoing since 2017 will continue in the period ahead.
In addition to these meetings, Minister Işıkhan attended the Certificate Ceremony at the Labour and Social Security Training and Research Centre.
Minister Vedat Işıkhan is scheduled to conclude his visit and depart from TRNC tomorrow after completing his engagements.trnc
