Unsettled weather with strong winds and mountain snow expected

Cyprus is set for unsettled weather conditions on Wednesday with scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms and snow in mountainous areas, the Department of Meteorology said.

Northwest winds will strengthen throughout the day from moderate force 3-4 to force 5 in windward areas.

Sea conditions will deteriorate from slight to moderate, becoming moderate in western and northern coastal areas by late afternoon.

Temperatures will reach 15 degrees Celsius inland, 17 degrees in coastal areas, and 7 degrees in the higher mountains.

Evening conditions will remain partly cloudy with isolated showers expected mainly in western and northern regions, whilst mountain areas may experience snow or sleet. Winds will shift to northwesterly to northeasterly, moderate to strong force 4-5, occasionally reaching force 6 in windward areas, with generally moderate seas.

The forecast for Thursday through Saturday indicates predominantly clear but cold weather with occasional localised cloud cover.

Temperatures will drop significantly on Thursday, falling below seasonal averages, and remain stable on Friday before a slight increase on Saturday. (incyprus)
