President Ersin Tatar attended a dinner organised to mark Veterans Day.
In his speech at the dinner, Tatar touched upon the Cyprus issue and emphasized that the right path is a solution model based on the cooperation of two separate sovereign equal states.
President Ersin Tatar attended the dinner organized at the 3rd Battalion of the 1st Infantry Regiment to mark Veterans Day.
Speaking during the dinner, President Tatar expressed his pleasure at gathering with the veterans to mark Veterans Day.
Reminding that the Turkish Cypriots fought hard for their freedom and existence and that a state was established with the support of Türkiye, Tatar said that efforts are underway to promote the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Referring to the Cyprus issue, Tatar emphasized that the right way is a solution model based on the cooperation of two separate sovereign equal states.
Explaining that he will go to New York in the coming days to represent the Turkish Cypriot People, President Tatar stated that he will meet with the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Stating that he will tell the UN Secretary General that he will not sit at the negotiating table to discuss a federal solution without the recognition of sovereignty, Tatar noted that they continue the policy with the full support of Türkiye.
Meanwhile the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre issued a video message in honour of Veterans’ Day.
In his message, he said that veterans are living heroes while martyrs are honoured heroes.
“I congratulate all our veterans on September 19, Veterans’ Day and the anniversary of the awarding of the title of ’Veteran’ to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye. I commemorate our martyrs and heroic veterans with deep gratitude” said Töre in his message.
