Yellow warning for thunderstorms and strong winds expected in the weekend

Isolated heavy thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to affect Cyprus during the weekend.
The Department of Meteorology issued a yellow warning on Friday afternoon, noting that isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect the area at times.
“Rain rates are expected to range between 35 and 50 millimetres per hour, while hail is also likely,’’ it added.
The warning is valid from 22:00 on Saturday till 08:00 on Sunday.
The Department also issued another yellow warning on Friday afternoon, noting that “very strong to near gale north westerly to northerly winds force 6 to 7 Beaufort are expected to affect mountainous and inland areas at times, while similar direction near gale to gale force winds force 7 to 8 Beaufort will be affecting the coastal areas at times.’’
The warning is valid from 04:00 on Sunday till 00:00 on Monday.
