Denktaş “We must be united first, otherwise we will perish”

TAM Party leader Serdar Denktaş called for national unity and an end to new citizenship opportunities—except in cases of family reunification—warning that a lack of unity could have dire consequences for the country.

Speaking at the 1st Ordinary Congress of the Social Justice and Struggle Party (TAM Party), Denktaş was elected Party leader as the sole candidate. Addressing party members, he said the congress marked the first step of “a new beginning.”

Denktaş stated that current conditions in the country have created a historic responsibility, emphasizing that this responsibility is being undertaken on behalf of young people forced to leave their homeland, women struggling under unequal conditions, farmers producing despite drought and neglect, tradespeople facing unfair competition and arbitrary taxation, entrepreneurs hesitant to invest, and all those who consider this land their home.

Highlighting key policy priorities, Denktaş stressed that the secular order must treat all beliefs equally and that swift, independent justice should be a top priority. He reiterated his call to end new citizenship opportunities outside family reunification, saying, “We must be united first. If we are not united, we will perish.”

During the congress, Denktaş also invited party council members holding foreign citizenship to the stage and introduced them to attendees. He drew attention to the ongoing issue of young people not returning to the country, outlining proposed measures such as tax exemptions for young entrepreneurs, stronger public oversight, and the lifting of immunities.
