Ayşe Ramadan identified through CMP efforts, buried with military honours

A military funeral was held today at Ortaköy Martyrs’ Cemetery for Ayşe (Yılmaz) Ramadan, whose remains were recently recovered during excavations by the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) in the Poli area of Baf in South Cyprus.

President Ersin Tatar, who attended the ceremony, said he was honoured to witness the burial of Ayşe Ramadan, whose fate had remained unknown for many years.

He praised the CMP’s vital work in reuniting families with their loved ones and stressed that the Turkish Cypriot people would never forget their martyrs.

“Our independent and free existence is owed to the sacrifices of our martyrs. These ceremonies are but a small token of our gratitude,” he said.

Tatar reaffirmed that preserving the TRNC and honouring the legacy of Turkish Cypriots is a shared national duty.

He also underlined the continued support of Türkiye in this mission.

Following the President’s remarks, a funeral prayer was held and Ramadan was laid to rest with full military honours at the Ortaköy cemetery.brt
