Üstel: “Economic progress owed to devoted TC businesspeople”

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel praises the resilience and contribution of Turkish Cypriot entrepreneurs, stating that the economic and social development of the Turkish Cypriot community since 20 July 1974 is owed to the selfless and determined efforts of its businesspeople.

Speaking at the 33rd Synergy Meeting held in Bursa, Türkiye, Prime Minister Üstel emphasized the vital role Turkish Cypriot businesspeople have played under challenging conditions.

“Our businesspeople know best what the Greeks and Greek Cypriots are like. At every promotional fair they attend, they face pressure from them—but they never feared or gave up,” he stated.

Reaffirming the unshakable bond with Türkiye, Üstel said, “Türkiye is our motherland. The greatest supporter of the Turkish Cypriot people has always been the Republic of Türkiye.”

The Prime Minister also underscored tourism as the driving force of the TRNC’s economy, adding: “The TRNC is also an island of education, with a rapidly expanding construction sector. It is an island enriched by its agriculture, livestock, natural beauty, and cultural heritage.”
