Ataoğlu: Youth will carry out heritage into the future

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu emphasized the importance of youth during remarks made at the Youth Festival held in the Mesarya region.

The festival was organized under the auspices of the State Youth Council, affiliated with the Deputy Prime Ministry and Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, in cooperation with the Department of Youth and the Youth Federation.

It was supported by the Mağusa Youth Union and local state youth centres.

Speaking at the event, Minister Ataoğlu noted that the festival was made possible through cooperation between the Ministry, the Youth Department, and the Youth Federation.

“Once again, we are realizing a first,” he said. “We are acting with full awareness of the importance we place on our youth.”

Highlighting the purpose of youth-oriented projects, Ataoğlu stated that such initiatives aim to carry the country’s cultural heritage into the future. “Our investments are designed to transfer our culture from past to present and from present to future. If we support our young people, they will be the ones to carry these works and dreams forward,” he said.

He added that their belief in youth is the driving force behind bringing such events to life.

While some local mayors and political figures did not attend the festival, Ataoğlu noted that the event still attracted a large turnout. He expressed disappointment that an event shaped by the efforts of young people was overlooked by certain officials.

The festival brought together young people from across the region, who showcased their talents through music, folk dances, and various performances. Producers also added vibrancy to the event with their colourful booths.

As part of the event, new projects aimed at strengthening state-run youth centres were announced to the public. In addition, feedback was gathered from local residents to guide future youth policy — creating a valuable platform for dialogue and community engagement.
