A cabinet reshuffle announced on Thursday saw the dismissal of Labor and Social Security Minister Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, who was replaced by Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, Secretary-General of the National Unity Party (UBP) and MP for Gazimağusa (Famagusta).
Reports suggest Gardiyanoğlu, who had been at odds with the ministry’s undersecretary and had recently stripped him of his powers, was dismissed just a day after taking office. The decree, signed by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and President Ersin Tatar, was published in the Official Gazette.
Gardiyanoğlu, elected to parliament in January 2022, had served as Labor and Social Security Minister since August 11, 2023. Hasipoğlu now officially assumes the post.
