The main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) continued its public rallies in Lefke as part of its campaign ahead of the upcoming presidential election.
CTP leader and presidential candidate Tufan Erhürman said, “This election will determine whether or not we leave behind a country that our children will want to return to.”
The Republican Turkish Party resumed its mass meetings in Lefke as the presidential election approaches.
CTP leader and presidential candidate Tufan Erhürman claimed the country is heading toward a breaking point in every sense, stating, “This is not only a turning point in the Cyprus issue, but we are also on the brink of an economic crisis that affects every household.”
He argued that the north of the country has become more expensive than the south, which he attributed to the current government’s policies.
Erhürman claimed that tourism has been reduced to merely casino tourism, that higher education is facing a significant loss of students, and that the construction sector is growing uncontrollably.
He also stated that although the country holds observer status in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), no tangible benefits have been gained.
At the end of his speech, Erhürman made a call to those attending and to all CTP supporters, saying: “This is not just any election. This is the election that will determine whether or not we leave behind a country our children will want to return to. This is not our destiny. We are going to make it happen.”
