CTP Leader İncirli “Society expects early elections, we are ready to govern”

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Sıla Usar İncirli said expectations for early general elections in Northern Cyprus in 2026 are strongly felt across society, citing a deep crisis of confidence in the current administration and stressing that CTP is ready to assume responsibility for governance.
İncirli made the remarks after meeting with Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairperson Özgür Özel at the CHP Headquarters in Ankara on Wednesday. The two leaders held a joint press conference following their talks.
İncirli said the core values uniting CTP and CHP are the pursuit of peace, justice, the rule of law and social justice, underlining that stability and peace in the region are a necessity rather than a choice. She emphasized that relations between the two parties should move beyond courtesy visits and evolve into structured cooperation.

Stating that CTP is prepared to govern with a culture of compromise, open dialogue and a commitment to rebuilding social justice, İncirli said the party aims to strengthen relations with Türkiye and political parties on the basis of equality, fraternity, mutual respect and institutional cooperation.
CHP leader Özgür Özel welcomed the visit, noting that the two parties share common perspectives on politics, the Cyprus issue and public expectations. He added that both parties achieved significant success in recent elections and are moving forward in solidarity toward power, amid upcoming elections in Northern Cyprus and the possibility of early elections in Türkiye.
