Authorities have confirmed that all 43 monkeys that escaped from a research facility in November have been successfully recaptured in Beaufort County, South Carolina.
In the wake of the escape, residents were prompted to remain vigilant, with officials advising them to keep doors and windows shut to prevent the monkeys from entering their homes. Community members were also cautioned against approaching the animals.
The research facility issued a statement yesterday announcing, “All 43 monkeys were safely recaptured and they are all healthy.”
