
Greek Cypriot Minister of Defence Vasilis Palmas met with his Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, during an official visit to Israel on December 14 and 15, where the two ministers held talks on bilateral defence and security cooperation.
According to a press release issued by the Greek Cypriot Ministry of Defence, discussions focused on strengthening relations between Cyprus and Israel in the fields of defence and security, as well as on the broader security situation in Cyprus, Israel, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
Palmas highlighted that, in the context of Cyprus’ upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Cypriot government aims to prioritize European unity while promoting strategic stability and regional cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Within this framework, efforts will be made to deepen cooperation with Israel by fostering dialogue and collaboration in areas of mutual interest, while also advancing regional peace, stability, and respect for international rules and international law.
