New State Laboratory

The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New State Laboratory Building was held.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek stressed the critical role of the State Laboratory and shared information about the planned laboratory.

“The State Laboratory was designed in a way that it can immediately obtain international accreditation. This design meets international standards and is capable of performing all the desired analyses” Dinçyürek stated.

Noting that the building was planned with consideration for future increases in demand, allowing for an additional 1,700 square meters of space if needed, he highlighted that the project was environmentally friendly and designed to meet international accreditation standards.

Dinçyürek added that the next hospital project will be the Pamuklu Hospital.

President Ersin Tatar for his part stressed that the Turkish Cypriot people deserve the investments being made.

The President stressed that the laboratories of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were in safe hands, thanks to skilled healthcare professionals who are experts in their fields and graduates of the best universities.

Tatar noted that the laboratory, which will also enhance the visibility of the TRNC, will contribute to trade and ensure that the health documents accompanying export certificates meet the necessary standards and accreditation.

Highlighting that the Turkish Cypriot people deserve the best, he stressed that this meant a quality and peaceful life.

“In the TRNC, we are working to promise a future for our youth by investing in both infrastructure and human resources” Tatar added.

President Tatar also mentioned that, with the contributions of the Republic of Türkiye, state-of-the-art equipment will be provided to the laboratory, ensuring the best analyses can be conducted for the health of the public.

Also speaking, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel noted that the foundation of the long-needed State Laboratory building was being laid and reminded that since coming to power, the government has prioritized completing unfinished projects.

“Today, we are completing long-awaited, unfinished projects. We have rolled up our sleeves to serve the people of the TRNC” the Premier said.

Highlighting that in 2025, they would implement the healthcare projects needed one by one, Üstel stressed that following the launch of the 4th phase of Güzelyurt Hospital another project addressing the significant needs of producers and traders was now coming to life.

The Premier also stressed that the laboratory would come into operation with modern equipment provided with the support of Türkiye.

In his speech, Üstel thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Yasin Ekrem Serim, and the staff of the Development and Economic Cooperation Office for their support in the investments made in the TRNC.brt
