Savaşan highlights TRNC-Türkiye solidarity

National Unity Party (UBP) MP and President of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council, Ahmet Savaşan, shared details of his recent participation in a health tourism conference in Hamedan, Iran, and the subsequent emergency evacuation that followed Israeli airstrikes in the region.

Speaking on a television programme, Savaşan stated that he had attended the event on official invitation as part of a two-member delegation from the TRNC. The conference concluded with the adoption of the “Hamedan Declaration”, he noted.

According to the UBP statement, the TRNC delegation was scheduled to depart Iran on June 13, but their flight was cancelled due to Israeli airstrikes that made Iranian airspace unsafe. In coordination with Turkish authorities, the delegation was transferred to the Turkish Embassy residence in Tehran.

Savaşan praised Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Hicabi Kırlangıç and his team for their meticulous security measures. On the morning of June 14, the delegation departed for Türkiye, safely reaching Yüksekova through the Esendere Border Gate.

Savaşan emphasized that the bond between Türkiye and the TRNC is not limited to diplomatic relations, but is grounded in deep solidarity shaped by trust, fraternity, and life-saving support during crises.

He underlined that the high-level coordination between the two countries during the evacuation revealed the strength of the “One Nation, Two States” principle — not just in rhetoric, but in concrete action on the ground.
