Politician Serdar Denktaş announced that they had started preparations to establish a new party positioned in the political centre.
According to a statement from Denktaş’s communication office, he said, “We are coming with a formation that will inspire trust in the country, not just criticize but bring to life what needs to happen. We are starting a journey with people who care about this country and are ready to take responsibility.”
Denktaş pointed out that the country had long been stuck between the National Unity Party (UBP) and the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), with the political scene caught in a cycle where one is in government while the other is in opposition.
Stating that the party included both experienced and young, dynamic members, he said, “My 32 years of political experience has always been about overcoming deadlocks, making compromises, and producing solutions. The mission of our new party will primarily be this. I will share my lifelong political experience with my young colleagues and together we will find solutions to our problems.”
Serdar Denktaş expressed that the new party would find support both on the centre-right and centre-left.
Regarding the Cyprus issue, he said there was a third way beyond the two-state solution or federation deadlock.
“We will put an end to polarization and produce practical solutions to our problems. We call on everyone who is unhappy with the country’s course, who wants their children and grandchildren to continue living happily and peacefully here, to stop complaining and take responsibility” Denktaş added.
