President Ersin Tatar made a statement on his social media account regarding the US attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Tatar wrote: “The U.S. and Israel’s attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities has once again clearly shown how unjust the world we live in is.”
In his post, Ersin Tatar stated: “The arrogant mindset of ‘It can be mine, but not yours’ and the understanding of ‘my right, not yours’ has brought the world to the brink of a third world war. Our expectation is for diplomacy to be activated as soon as possible”.
He wrote that it must not be forgetten that we live in a world where power is seen as justice and no Western or Muslim country goes beyond condemnation and he said this is most painfully event in what the Palestinians in Gaza are going through.
“As the Turkish Cypriot people, we know very well that our southern neighbor (South Cyprus) is no different from Israel. We are confronted by a ruthless mentality that sees us as a minority on this island, does not accept us as equals, and is trying to destroy us in our own homeland just like the Palestinians in Gaza” said Tatar.
“If we put our trust in the world’s sense of justice and surrender ourselves, we will have accepted the poisonous apple constantly offered to us under the name of peace and happiness, not our rightful claims. However, as the Turkish Cypriot people, we are not doomed to live by scripts written by others. With our own will, unity, and determination, we will continue on our path.
True peace and security can only be achieved when we stand up for our own will and rights. We will shape our future not with the designs of others, but with our own hands and shared will,” he concluded.
