The Police General Directorate has issued a public warning ahead of New Year’s celebrations, reminding citizens to comply with safety rules and announcing that police units will remain on duty around the clock throughout the holiday period.
In a written statement, the Police General Directorate underlined that all units will continue to provide uninterrupted service during New Year’s Eve.
The public was reminded that emergency and assistance lines — including 155 Police, 156 Narcotics, and 199 Fire Department — will remain fully operational to respond promptly to any incident or request for help.
The statement stressed that firearms must not be used during celebrations and warned against driving under the influence of alcohol or at excessive speeds.
It was also emphasised that children under the age of three must not be transported in vehicles without proper child safety seats.
The Police further advised citizens to ensure that home security systems and cameras are activated before leaving their residences, that doors and windows are securely locked, and that electrical appliances are checked to prevent possible fire hazards.
Emphasising the importance of traffic safety, the Police called on both drivers and pedestrians to strictly observe traffic rules, noting that many tragic accidents causing loss of life and serious injuries can be prevented through responsible behaviour.
The statement concluded with a message of goodwill, expressing the hope that celebrations would pass without incident and extending sincere wishes for a safe, peaceful, and prosperous New Year to the public.
