President Ersin Tatar has called on the members of the Republican’s Assembly to raise a united and powerful voice in defense of the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Tatar was speaking to reporters at the end of today’s extraordinary session held behind closed doors.
During the session, the President briefed lawmakers on regional developments and the escalating pressures stemming from Greek Cypriot policies.
In his remarks, President Tatar urged parliamentarians to speak out firmly against what he described as the oppressive political stance of the Greek Cypriot administration, which targets the property rights, legal order, and dignity of Turkish Cypriots.
He emphasized the need for a collective response, declaring: “I want our people’s rights to be proclaimed to the world with one heart and one voice.”
Tatar stated that every form of pressure directed at the TRNC’s legitimate institutions—particularly the Immovable Property Commission (IPC)—must be rejected.
He stressed that the international community must not turn a blind eye to violations of the human rights of individuals who have obtained their rights in accordance with international law.
The President also underlined the urgency of utilizing all available diplomatic means to counter the Greek Cypriot Administration’s aggressive and unlawful conduct, which he said poses a direct threat to the peaceful order and legitimate structures of the TRNC.
