Switzerland contributes €208,000 to CMP

The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) has received a financial contribution of 195,000 Swiss Francs—equivalent to approximately €208,423—from the Swiss government.

The CMP announced that this latest support represents the third instalment of Switzerland’s pledged one-million-franc commitment for the 2023–2026 period.

This contribution will assist the Committee in further strengthening its work in the coming year. Specifically, the funds will help bolster training capacity, improve the quality and speed of genetic analysis, and support efforts to locate, identify, and return the remains of missing persons to their families.

The CMP underlined that such support is essential for advancing its humanitarian mission and reducing the long-standing suffering of affected families.

In a statement, the Committee expressed sincere appreciation for Switzerland’s long-term partnership, which dates back more than a decade. With this latest donation, the total amount of Swiss support since 2014 has reached €1,056,875.

The CMP emphasized that this sustained commitment has played a vital role in enabling the continuation and expansion of its work across the island. BRT
