Today marks one of the historic days for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan came to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus today and inaugurated the new Presidential and Parliament Complex.
Messages of unity and solidarity were given.
The inauguration ceremony was broadcast live on BRT.
The Presidential and Parliamentary Complex was inaugurated today by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President Ersin Tatar and high ranking state and government officials from Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
Speaking prior to the ribbon cutting ceremony, President Ersin Tatan thanked his Turkish counterpart for the support and assistance he has provided to the Turkish Cypriot people.
President Ersin Tatar expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Türkiye, stating that the newly constructed complex will stand as a monumental symbol in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Tatar said, “With the Presidential Complex, the Republic Assembly, and the High Court building—worthy of the struggle endured by the Turkish Cypriots and the state they have established—this site has become a symbol of the TRNC. Once again, I extend my sincere thanks to President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his part said that he was once again very pleased to be in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and extended his warm welcome the Turkish Cypriot people who are witnessing this celebration of great achievements and this historic moment.
“We are all filled with great enthusiasm and excitement. Today, we are placing another seal on these lands. Today, we are gifting yet another magnificent work to the Turkish Cypriot people. This is not just an ordinary inauguration ceremony. We are also declaring our will, determination, and passion for freedom” said Erdoğan.
“Our Republic Complex project is one of the proud symbols of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Initiated in 2022, the complex spans an area of 639,475 square meters and will house the Presidential Palace, the Parliament, the Supreme Court, and a National Garden. Today, we are inaugurating the Presidential Palace and the Parliament buildings as the first phase. God willing, we will later also open the National Garden, the National Mosque, and the Supreme Court buildings” he said.
“With this, we will have brought to Lefkoşa a structure befitting the growing prestige of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. I would also like to underline an important point: the Republic Complex stands as a symbol of the determination of the Turkish Cypriot people. It is also a manifestation of a state’s will to exist in the face of injustice and illegality. It represents the shared destiny of Türkiye and North Cyprus. Upon this strong foundation, we will God willing, build new successes and new institutions” said Erdoğan.
“We will continue our struggle for independence and our future with even greater strength. Those who seek to disrupt our brotherhood, divide us, and sow seeds of hatred on these fertile lands instead of peace and harmony will not succeed. I sincerely believe that this complex will host decisions that will carry the Turkish Cypriot people forward. I thank each and every one of you for your love and loyalty” he added.
“As in the past, Türkiye will always stand by your side whenever you need us—today and in the future. From strengthening ties with the Turkic world to lifting the unjust isolation imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people, we will continue our strong support in every area. With these thoughts, I extend my gratitude to every brother and sister who contributed their effort and labor to the construction of this complex. I especially congratulate TOKİ. I once again wish that this complex will be auspicious. I greet you all with my sincerest feelings. May God bless you until we meet again” said Erdoğan.
