The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre, celebrated May 3rd World Press Freedom Day with a message.
In his message, Töre pointed out that access to accurate and real information can only be possible with free press channels.
In his message the speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre stated that the press is an indispensable element of democratic life and the most effective means of freedom of information and dissemination and noted that members of the press fulfill the service of research, information, enlightenment and public opinion formation on every issue that society needs.
“There is no doubt that the freedom of the press is of great importance for the press members who fulfill this important duty to be able to work freely. Access to accurate and real information can only be possible through free press channels. I appreciate the efforts of our press organizations and their employees, who also carry out a kind of public duty, to fulfill their duties even under difficult conditions” said Töre.
He congratulated all members of the press who fulfill one of the most demanding and self-sacrificing professions on May 3, World Press Freedom Day.
